Q2 What are the characteristics of Fragile X syndrome?

Symptoms of Fragile X syndrome include intellectual handicap, hyperactivity, attention problems, autistic features, emotional lability and epilepsy.

Boys with Fragile X have learning difficulties ranging from mild to severe intellectual disability. Girls are often of normal intelligence, but up to a third have learning difficulties, which can be mild or severe. It is common for both children and adults to show autistic-like features, such as difficulty in relating to others or an insistence on familiar routines.

There is no current licensed treatment for Fragile X syndrome.
